DiodeGate-1G — Technical Specifications

Interfaces:

  • Ethernet 100/1000 BASE-TX, RJ-45 — bidirectional incoming traffic interface, 1
  • Ethernet 1000BASE-SX/LX, SFP — bidirectional incoming traffic interface, 1, 2
  • Ethernet 1000BASE-SX, SC 850 nm — outgoing traffic interface, transmitter only 3, 4
  • Sealable SD card slot
  • Interfaces can be connected to hosts or network equipment interfaces with corresponding specifications
1 — Only one interface should be connected (copper or fiber)
2 — Autoneg mode on/off is available in the settings
3 — Maximum cable length to receiving equipment is 550m when using 50/125 μm fiber
4 — The network interface of the equipment connected to the device’s outgoing traffic interface must have autoneg mode turned off

Indicators:

  • 4 LED indicator blocks on the front panel
  • 16x2 LCD with backlight or matrix display
  • Display interface — English
  • Displays operating mode, packet counter, and fault messages

Configuration:

  • Configuration is done via a text file located on the SD card
  • The applied settings are saved in the device’s non-volatile memory

Modes:

  • Pass-through mode — forwards L2 Ethernet packets "as-is"
  • Filtering mode — hardware L2+ filtering, hardware ARP functionality
  • Operates in only one mode, configured during setup
  • Ready time — no more than 8 seconds

Pass-through Mode:

  • Universal unidirectional mode without filtering
  • Forwards L2 Ethernet traffic (including packets with a distorted checksum)
  • Suitable for SPAN traffic processing
  • Ideal for establishing "seamless" redundancy channels
  • Jumbo packet support — up to 16K bytes

Operational Mode:

  • Unidirectional operation with hardware filtering at L2 and L3 IPv4 (comparable to L2+ functionality in switches)
  • Discards packets with incorrect FCS checksum
  • Does not support 802.1Q packet processing
  • Correct handling of IPv4 packets with extended Options field — ensures compatibility with protocols supporting classification tags (e.g., Astra Linux)
  • Hardware filtering by destination MAC address (L2) — 1 address
  • Forwards MAC addresses within the multicast range regardless of the MAC filter value
  • Hardware filtering by source IP address (L3) — up to 511 allowed addresses, all others are dropped
  • Hardware filtering by destination IP address (L3) , address substitution if necessary, assignment of destination MAC address — up to 511 rules, all packets with IP addresses not listed are dropped
  • Hardware ARP functionality for the network segment connected to the incoming traffic interface — the ARP table is formed from destination IP address rules and the MAC filter value
  • Packet counter shows the number of packets that have passed through all hardware filters and been forwarded to the outgoing network interface
  • Maximum packet size for L2 — 2000 bytes (formally falls under the jumbo category)

Unidirectional Transmission Performance:

Packet Size (includes 4B FCS) L2 Packets/sec L2 Mbps L4 Mbps (UDP)
64 bytes 1488095 762 214
512 bytes 234962 962 876
1024 bytes 119732 981 937
1518 bytes 81 274 987 957
2000 bytes 61881 990 967
9216 bytes 13534 998 993
  • Channel latency — no more than 100 ns
  • Hardware filtering does not affect the device’s throughput or latency

Manufacturer's Recommendations:

  • For reliable traffic reception from the unidirectional gateway, use server-grade network cards from reputable manufacturers or switch ports with guaranteed performance.
  • When using fiber-to-copper converters, ensure their performance meets the necessary requirements. Make the final decision about using our equipment after testing it in your setup, including all associated hardware components. A sample unit is available for free testing upon request.
